Hong Kong Worship Leader Tom Read Co-Writes With Tim Hughes & Ben Cantelon For 'Compass'
Hong Kong based singer/songwriter Tom Read will release his Kingsway label debut solo album 'Compass' on 17th September 2012. The album features co-writes with Tim Hughes, Ben Cantelon, Nick Herbert and Marc James, and was produced by Dan Wheeler (Cathy Burton, Graham Kendrick, Tom & Olly).
Tom is a worship leader at the thriving Vine church in Hong Kong as well as being a leader for Worship Central in Asia. Earlier this year he opened for Grammy-nominated band Gungor when they performed in Hong Kong.
"I've spend the last 2 years writing lots of songs, and I love each one of those songs and want them all to be on the album", says Tom.
"Unfortunately only 10 tracks can go on, so I have had to sit down with the producer and the record label to decide which 10, out of the 16 or so songs on the table, were going to make it. Every song that got cut felt like a finger being chopped off, but I'm confident that we have got it down to the 10 strongest songs."
The album includes the song 'From Ashes To Beauty', written by Tom (see video below), which previously appeared on Worship Central's 'Lifting High' album. "This song doesn't really need much of an introduction as it has been recorded a number times for various projects, and is by far the most well known song I've ever written", he explains.
