Can I introduce to you, FireFly. For people who don't know who this artist is, well 'FireFly' (real name Deborah) is a worship leader and writer just starting off with a debut EP called ‘Worship in the Wilderness’. The songs were written while Deborah's husband battled against M.S.
The songs on this EP are about that time and how Deborah struggled praising God, but as she says, looking heavenward, using every ounce of faith that was left inside her, she recalled the promises of God... and she praised.

The songs on this EP are about that time and how Deborah struggled praising God, but as she says, looking heavenward, using every ounce of faith that was left inside her, she recalled the promises of God... and she praised.
God used this time not only to reveal His grace and goodness but to give Firefly her calling, He called her to write songs that lead those who may have become hardened through their circumstance to worship God.
The more I listen to this EP the more I fall in love with it. The simplicity of I Surrender is its quality. The hushed, stunning vocals with very minimal yet beautiful music, make this a wonderful song. I could listen to this song over and over.
Cry Joy opens with a slightly edgy sounding guitar, but as soon as that disappears the mood and the atmosphere slips into a beautiful, intimate, yet powerful song. The first thing you notice is the quality of the voice. Wow. Firefly has one of those voices that just seems to work as a recording artist.
The track 'In The Storm' is Firefly's most honest and raw lyrics, you can hear the intensity of the song. It's very much in contrast to the track Light The Way which is a little bit more upbeat. This funky acoustic track is very cheerful and shows Firefly is not just about reflective songs.
Redeemed is another track that just shows off the quality of Firefly. Some lovely piano work, mixed with some great harmonies. This song is one to get lost in while you listen.
Firefly will be one of those artists to keep an eye out for in 2015. Her vocals are strong and heartfelt, the music she is creating is top quality and everything is pointing towards big things in the next few months. If you like artists like Lou Fellingham, Philippa Hanna and Amie Aitken, then I am 100% sure you will love Firefly.
