Ooberfuse's Christmas Single 'Angels Cry' Receives Praise From The Guardian
British band Ooberfuse's new Christmas single 'Angels Cry (A Haiyan Lullaby)' has been tipped by the Guardian newspaper as a contender for this year's coveted Christmas Number 1 spot.
The Guardian describer the track as "eight parts chilly winter's night, to two parts theme from the X-Files."
The band's front woman Cherrie Anderson said, "In the wake of the deadliest typhoon on record, that claimed over 6,000 lives, we were inspired by the accounts of woman survivors giving birth in makeshift shelters only hours after Tyhoon Haiyan subsided.
The theme of nativity, particularly in uncomfortable places, is as timeless today as it was over 2000 years ago in the Bethlehem stable. It is all to easy to sanitise what Mary's birth experience would have been like. I imagine though that it may not have been as comfortable as many Christmas cards make out!"
Ooberfuse released their second album 'Seventh Wave' in 2012 as the follow up to their 2011 album 'Still Love My Enemies'.
