Which moves us on to opening track 'Promised Land' which from the off has this bluesy swagger that is enjoyable from the start. This sound then continues into other tracks including 'Song Of Deliverance'. This album brings together blues music with swagger and also with the added extra of good pop music with country, and still comes out sounding good. A very big mix of sounds, but still sounds great.
Yet on a more personal note, I would rather hear the bluesy gutsy music coming to the forefront more. There is nothing better than hearing the tone of a guitar that gets the classic blues sound right and Zach gets it spot on with this album.
For all my personal tastes, Zach has tracks on this album for everybody. For example the track 'Old Church Choir', which is a radio friendly pop record, will be enjoyed over a wide demographic. 'Everything Changed' has this epic pop sound mixed with great vocals and gospel choir that younger people might like more. Every taste is looked after here, more than I was expecting.
'Survivor' is a personal but upbeat song. 'To The Table' is an acoustic track which is about being invited to be with Jesus. The song is about bringing yourself, no matter what your situation or how you feel about yourself, when we talk about the Cross and Jesus, you can 'bring it all to the table'.
The guitar playing on 'Fear Is A Liar' is exceptional. It's during this song where you can really appreciate the distinctive and raspy vocals of Zach. The album ends with the track 'Freedom'. I so wish this song was further up in the track listing, Zach's vocals sound sublime and the musical swagger is back. Great tune!
In the main this album ticks a lot of boxes. Great vocals, great sounds, different styles and some really top songs. At times some of the songs don't sit together as well as they maybe could and for me I would love to hear more of the guitar sounds, but I understand why the poppy tracks are on here too.
