Christa Wells Releases 'Velveteen' Ahead Of New Album

Mar 20 2018

Award-winning Nashville based singer/songwriter Christa Wells, who writes deep-reaching, alternative-pop music, has recently released a single called 'Velveteen', with an album due for release in April 2018 following her successful PledgeMusic campaign.

Christa has released five albums as an indie artist (Rogers/Wells Project, Frame the Clouds, How Emptiness Sings, Feed Your Soul, Covers) and her newest project includes first two singles, Down Down Low and Velveteen.

In 2013, Christa also joined fellow songwriter Nicole Witt in releasing an album of folk-inspired faith-based music under band name More Than Rubies.

The path to Christa’s work in music was non-traditional. Instead of spending her twenties networking and performing at showcases, Christa married early, started a family, and moved from Nashville to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she focused on songwriting rather than performance. In 2006, Christa was named GMA Songwriter of the Year for her song “Held,” recorded by Natalie Grant. She has also written with and for a number of Nashville artists, including Plumb, Ellie Holcomb, Selah, Point of Grace. She was a co-writer on Plumb's hit single "Need You Now" and Ellie Holcomb's beloved title track, "Red Sea Road."

Along the way, began sharing her songs first-hand. Christa is passionate about encouraging + mentoring fellow artists and serves one week each summer on staff with Masterpiece Ministries, and arts camp for high school students. She also collaborated with Nicole Witt to found a creative support community called Artist And, which hosts periodic songwriting and creative/spiritual retreats.
