Jomo Johnson Releases Album Discussing The Reality of Mental Health Issues In Black Community

May 23 2018

Philly Pastor of Meek Mill Debate, Black Lives Matter Advocate, and Author Jomo K. Johnson has released an uncensored original album titled 'Conversations With Jesus Before Suicide', detailing his suicide attempt and depression. The album is released during Mental Health Awareness Month.

"Being authentic and transparent can be the scariest thing in life. This is especially true when you are a public figure", admits Jomo. "But on May 11th, I've decided to release my pains, struggles, and my thoughts of suicide in an uncensored album I've been working on for over 10 years.

With this being Mental Health Awareness Month, I feel that there is no better time to share with the world, that I as a Black Man, have attempted to take my life and still think about doing so on a regular basis as I battle depression. Yet It is my hope that this album, 'Conversations With Jesus Before Suicide' will bring awareness to reality that we can no longer medicate our pain away. Instead we must communicate our pain, and in doing so, we can experience the true healing that is available to all of us."
