Mickey Turner Promotes Suicide Awareness With 'Voices' Single

Oct 04 2019

Indie artist Mickey Turner, who has been recording singles one at a time expressing how faith and life collide, has released his new single 'Voices'. Mickey captures the feelings and thoughts as expressed by his son during bouts with depression and anxiety, leading to suicidal ideations, and a cry for peace. 'Voices' conveys the mental and emotional conflict of those struggles with a contemporary rock vibe infused with a touch of contemporary pop at the end to calm the soul. The subject is raw. The struggle is real.

"Quiet the voices that speak all these lies into my life. Calm all the chaos that runs through my mind then crosses the line. Silence the demons that tell me to die and take my own life. Heal all this sadness that cuts like a knife. I want to live God I don’t want to die. Peace, be still in me."

Mickey pens lyrics derived from personal experiences, observations and contemplation of scripture, then partners with local artists to create artwork and music that tell a story. Mickey is a Jesus follower, a Liberty University alumnus, and served in the U.S. Army for over 21 years. He lives in Williamsburg, Virginia with his wife Amy and plays an active role in leading worship at Crosswalk Community Church.
