Brad + Rebekah Return With Personal Worship Anthem 'Rejoice'
Acclaimed husband/wife singer/songwriters and worship leaders Brad + Rebekah return with the single and video release of 'Rejoice', a personal worship anthem borne from a season of pain and uncertainty. Written by Brad + Rebekah, along with Kristene DiMarco and Joshua Silverberg, the song came to life during Rebekah's battle with cancer in 2018.
“We began writing ‘Rejoice’ two years ago with Kristene DiMarco, wanting to express our need to rejoice in situations that we don’t want to trust God in,” Brad explains. “We used Philippians 4 as our foundation, and had no idea how much we would need those verses in the months ahead.”
“In early 2018 I was diagnosed with an inoperable, cancerous tumor wrapped around my kidney,” Rebekah remembers. “During the months that followed, I wanted to continue leading worship - as a declaration to myself and others, that God was sovereign, good, and that He loved me. My prayer was that the tumor would shrivel up and fall out of my body.”
“The initial diagnosis changed, and after three months, I had surgery in Houston,” Rebekah continues. “Taking just over two hours, rather than the estimated eight, the surgeon reported that ‘the tumor practically fell out of my body.’ I knew this was a miracle, and through the surgeon’s words, that God had heard my every prayer.”
“We finished writing ‘Rejoice’ with our good friend Joshua Silverberg and were reminded that God’s timing is always perfect,” Brad concludes. “Now as we sing and share this song, it comes from a deeper place of trust and understanding that the Lord is good and His love for us is unshakeable and transcends our circumstances here on earth. We serve an amazing God, and He deserves to be celebrated.”
For 11 years, Brad + Rebekah have shared their acoustic-based, personal songs of worship with audiences across the country and internationally. Their latest full-length recording, Sound of Heaven, released last year. The duo partners with Watoto, a Uganda-based ministry serving orphans and society's most vulnerable, and leads worship regularly at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona.
