Mike Rathke Releases 'O Lord You're Beautiful'
Mike Rathke, a Kansas native and singer-songwriter, has released his new single 'O Lord You're Beautiful' from his 'The Dawning Fire' EP. Originally written by Keith Green, 'O Lord You're Beautiful' has been a staple in Mike's live worship planning since the beginning of his journey in worship ministry.
The song has been covered by many artists over the years but what many do not realize is that the original song contained 4 verses and 2 choruses. Mike’s rendition includes verse 3 which gives a glimpse into the background and the emotions that Keith must have felt while penning this classic worship song.
Mike recorded 'O Lord You're Beautiful' upon the request of Brandon Bailey while in Nashville at the Sound Emporium. God’s presence was truly in the studio that weekend. Later that evening, the team was informed by a friend of the ministry that Mike’s version of 'O Lord You're Beautiful' was tracked in the studio on the anniversary date of Keith’s passing.
His influences include Josh Garrels, Ray LaMontagne, and John Mark McMillan, along with many others. His first adventure in the realm of music production came with three self-produced albums, Letters From the Father, Spoken Words and the Word That’s Spoken, and Never Change. His latest EP “The Dawning Fire” was recorded in Nashville in July of 2019 with his first single “The Dawning Fire” released on December 6, 2019. His official music video for the song released the same day and has reached over 300k views on YouTube. The songs contained in this album reflect Mike’s passion for biblical lyrics encased in a tasteful bed of modern folk music.
