Elias Dummer Unveils Collaborative Video For 'Good' & Announces 'Echoing Holy' Single Ahead of New EP

Apr 27 2020

Worship leader Elias Dummer, who formerly led popular band The City Harmonic , has released a special video for his new song 'Good' taken from his upcoming EP 'The Rest Vol. 1', due for release in June. The video is a compilation of submissions from around the world, all filmed during the Coronavirus Quarantine of 2020. Elias will also be releasing new single 'Echoing Holy' on May 8th. Elias' debut single 'Enough' was a mainstay on the Billboard and Mediabase Christian Audience charts in 2019, while his voice and songs streamed more than 10 million times.

"Worship isn’t just something we do alone but with people around. We do it together. If the crises of 2020 have taught me anything, it’s that doing this faith alone is just. so. hard. Other people help us see Jesus better", explains Elias about 'Echoing Holy'. "The author C.S. Lewis was part of a tight-knight group of friends called The Inklings, including JRR Tolkien and a third friend, Charles. When Charles died, Lewis shared this powerful story:

“In each of my friends, there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets. Now that Charles is dead, I shall never again see Ronald’s [Tolkien’s] reaction to a specifically Charles joke. Far from having more of Ronald, having him “to myself” now that Charles is away, I have less of Ronald…

In this, Friendship exhibits a glorious “nearness by resemblance” to heaven itself where the very multitude of the blessed (which no man can number) increases the fruition which each of us has of God. For every soul, seeing Him in her own way, doubtless communicates that unique vision to all the rest. That, says an old author, is why the Seraphim in Isaiah’s vision are crying “Holy, Holy, Holy” to one another (Isaiah 6:3). The more we thus share the Heavenly Bread between us, the more we shall have.”

We're in a crisis of isolation, with so many facing the loss of a loved one. Inspired by Lewis' story, "Echoing Holy" calls us to see God better together as friends and reminds us of the value of being really and truly together as we echo the songs of heaven and remember the hope we have, and the hope we have to come.

In worship, echoing the angels to each other, we have a small taste of heaven. My hope and prayer is that this song inspires that same hope-filled imagination in you."
