Rob Westall Releases 'Thank You Jesus (Live)' Single & Video For Lockdown-Affected Churches

May 05 2020

Homegrown Worship and Welsh Christian artist Rob Westall have produced a new music video for churches providing online services during the Coronavirus lockdown. 'Thank You Jesus' - is the first of the Welsh songwriter’s songs to be released by the label and is available now via Homegrown Worship’s YouTube channel and Spotify.

It was recorded in November last year (2019) as Rob led hundreds of worshippers alongside Loulita Gill and Robbie Howells at Warehouse Church in Newport, South Wales, for Homegrown Worship’s ‘Feast in His Presence’ event. ‘Thank You Jesus’ was due to be released later this year, but both Homegrown Worship and Rob Westall decided to bring the release forward due to the song’s message of hope and the challenges facing churches during quarantine.

Churches across the world have been forced to close their buildings as governments seek to halt the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. Many places of worship have moved online during the quarantine. As a result, many fellowships are finding it a challenge to produce musical content for services as bands and musicians are unable to gather publicly.

Former BBC journalist, Rob Westall, hopes the release of ‘Thank You Jesus’ as part Homegrown Worship’s ‘Live Worship Wednesday,’ will be just the start in helping to ease the strain on churches trying to broadcast the ‘Good News’ of the Gospel to a new potential audience.

Rob Westall, who is also Director of Worship at Gateway Church in Abergavenny, South Wales, said:

“Thank You Jesus is an uplifting anthem of hope, directed at the one true hope we have in such dark and uncertain times - Jesus. It’s all about the message of the cross and helps worshippers to communicate the gospel with others whilst expressing their gratitude and heart to God for His ultimate act of mercy, grace and love.

“We just felt it was so important to release the song now so it can be used by churches as a tool to encourage believers but also to communicate the Gospel.

“At Gateway we have a membership of over 300, but we are seeing that grow rapidly online with people from all over the world now tuning in, in their thousands. The world is watching and the potential to communicate the Gospel is incredible.

“Using my broadcasting background I’ve also been doing week nightly Facebook Live broadcasts sharing my faith and music and interviews and last week we saw one person become a Christian and another decide to recommit their life to Christ.

“I urge everyone to share this song with as many people as possible to help spread the Good News far and wide.”
