SEU Worship Release Full Length Debut 'A Thousand Generations'

Jun 21 2020

Provident Label Group/Essential Worship's SEU Worship releases their debut full-length album, A Thousand Generations, today. SEU Worship, the worship movement of Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL., has stepped into a new sound and vision they are calling "prophetic pop." SEU Worship is a collaboration between the faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and it is a reflection of the worship movement happening during weekly chapels. SEU Worship's core artists include Dan Rivera, David Ryan Cook, Kenzie Walker and Sydney Wilson.

A Thousand Generations is the first full-length release in the new partnership with Provident Label Group/Essential Worship, and it draws from the rich history of worship from God's people while embracing the call to reach their audience with something not yet established. The album was recorded on campus in November 2019 in Bush Chapel, one of SEU's older buildings where generations of pastors, missionaries and students have worshiped.

"A Thousand Generations is a record that feels personal to each of the contributors," shares Dan Rivera. "Everyone brought outstanding songs to the table, and each of them came from a profoundly personal and sincere place. I’m honored to play a role in this project."

SEU is confident in bringing the sounds of pop music into their worship services, knowing that simultaneously they are bringing worship into the pop world. It is the mixing of tradition with the future. The lead vocals are a mixture of the core artists and students from Southeastern University.

"God's been stirring what we believe is revival so heavily on our campus that it has become tangible to us," shares Kenzie Walker. "With revival comes a sound and for this campus we know that this revival sound was not just made for our containment. As we were praying for our next record, God spoke a word over our music that we were making a way for the King to have His throne in our space here at SEU. We could sense that the Holy Spirit was walking with us down the paths of our campus, and we could hear the work of the spirit reverberating in our chapel. That’s something that we feel we are called to steward and send out in the world. This collection of songs is made on purpose and for a purpose as God has anointed the house that is Southeastern University to pen the songs of the prophetic nature of the Holy Spirit."

SEU Worship has previously released six albums independently and have more than 300,000 subscribed listeners on digital platforms with several songs with more than a million streams.
