On Out of Body, NEEDTOBREATHE examines life, family and friends through a youthful prism. The members take stock of not only two decades as a band, but also first-time fatherhood and the future over a rich soundtrack of soulful rock with stadium-size scope and poetic intimacy. After spending a week at a beach house in Charleston to gather thoughts and ideas, the trio headed to Nashville, to record alongside producers Cason Cooley and Jeremy Lutito.

I have always felt that NEEDTOBREATHE have grown and grown into a bigger and bolder band the more they have made music, and this album continues that musical train of passion. Yet what I felt with this release, in comparison to other albums, is that this feels like a more 'complete' album, everything is gelled together perfectly, the songs have a sound and theme but the band have not let that compromise being creative and pushing the musical boundaries.

If I had to quickly describe the sound of the album, it would have to be Imagine Dragons meets newer Mumford & Sons, mixed with Third Day at their best, with a dash of Rend Collective. I love how some songs here are very catchy very quickly, and before you know it the song is stuck in your head. Tracks 'Out of Body' and 'Alive' are a small example of this. There is some lovely guitar sounds on the track 'Survival' which feature Drew & Ellie Holcomb, which is probably the most Country sounding song on here, and the harmonies are stunning.

There is so much to love about the songs on this album, I could listen to the track 'Alive' over and over again. 'Riding High' lets the band's rock n roll swagger out a little bit more, while 'Banks' has a beautiful sound that leaves you with a happy chill. But for me the biggest and most distinctive pull of the album is the sound that Bear makes with his voice. I love the vocals on 'Who I Am', at the start of the song it shows a sweeter vocal from frontman Bear, and as the song continues the power and passion in the vocals grows into something really powerful, giving an overall sound that is simply stunning.

For me this is NEEDTOBREATHE's best album to date and I can only recommend that you check it out as soon as you can.
