Zach and Rodney Release 'Selma Swamp' Video Feat. Canton Jones

Aug 21 2020

During a pivotal time for race relations in America, Zach and Rodney have released a new music video whose positive message is something we can all hear right now. The Christian Country duo team up with Christian rapper, producer, and vocalist Canton Jones to share a message of love and equality while touching on the troubled past of Selma as well as the country as a whole.

In the late 1990's, while pursuing a career in country music and getting into trouble with the law, Rodney Hedrick was sentenced to perform his community service at a church, with one condition: He would have to attend the Sunday School class taught by the janitor and choir director of the church at least one time. It didn't stop there and Rodney continued attending the class and would surrender his heart and talents to the Lord. He started teaching Sunday School himself and soon felt the call to preach. He would end up marrying the daughter of the janitor who taught the original Sunday School class, whose younger brother was a guitar player named Zach Mashburn.

The two began the Christian Country duo Zach & Rodney and use their talents to spread the word of God. Their new music video "Selma Swamp" is a powerful piece that touches on race relations and loving one another despite the color of our skin. Featuring footage from the 1960's Civil Rights Movement the video spreads a message of peace and calls us to love one another during this time of division and civil unrest in our country. The video also features Christian singer, rapper, producer, and youth pastor Canton Jones. The collaboration between both white and black artists further emphasises the message that we are all equal.
