It seems like there is a new trend happening in the Christian music world. Acoustic albums seem to be the way forward for bands to re-invent versions of their own songs. The latest band to try this is Casting Crowns with their album 'The Acoustic Sessions'

Of course bands like Casting Crowns have so many songs that are well known, that releasing an album like this isn't really a challenge. There are 8 well known Casting Crowns tracks on this album, each sounding different and more stripped down to their original studio versions.
The band use the piano very well during the tracks 'East & West' and 'If We Are The Body'. These songs flow beautifully, but don't loose the intensity and passion behind the songs. The vocals on 'Who I Am' are so wonderfully sung that this became a stand out track for me.
Fans of the band will love hearing the songs in this format. Tracks like Somewhere In The Middle and Praise You In This Storm have been given a great new outing with the vocals really becoming the forefront of each song, with some great harmonies, as you expect from Casting Crowns.
What will be of even more interest to Casting Crowns fans are the two new tracks on the album. Only You Can Satisfy and Delivered are both solid tracks that fit in well with these classics on the album. I personally think Delivered is a very good modern sounding track that will soon become a fan favorite.
With Casting Crowns, although they have some great songs, I always think musically they could do a bit more on their studio albums. But for me, this is the best Casting Crowns album so far. The songs are solid and then musically they are much more creative in this stripped down style. I think Casting Crowns have surpassed themselves and also given a new lease of life to some older tracks.
