This album sounds like the typical female young singers in the mainstream US charts: take the sounds of Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson & Ashlee Simpson and you have the sound it seems Shell Perris is trying to create. In terms of similar artist in the Christian world, just look at Stephanie Smith & Krystal Myers for a similar sound
The songs on this album are recorded and produced as well as any non Christian album you would find, yet the main difference is the topics of the lyrics; each track dealing with a major issue in today's culture. From the title of second track Don't Take Your Clothes Off you can gather what the song is about, with lyrics of don't take your clothes off. Find someone who will wait for you. Don't give out free love. Play hard to get, It's not something you have to do. you can see this song is sending out the message you don't have to sleep around but instead wait for God's Husband/Wife for you, which is a message young teenagers need to hear and I'm glad Shell is brave enough to write a track like that. Take A Look At Yourself deals with the issues of vanity and materialism with the lyrics You walk around, Thinking you're the best by miles. You like to show off your Gold and diamond style. and the song ending with the perfect conclusion of Don't be a fool, you've gotta make it real, Cause I've got news for you (You're not living the dream) which makes another wonderfully uplifting track dealing with serious issues in a positive manner.
This album is the perfect album for young teenage girls who more than likely are dealing with many of the issues on a daily basis. Beautiful Life leaves the listener with a positive message of how to deal with problems in what is a very difficult time for some. I have to admit the album isn't aimed at a married 26 year old man, and I will probably not be listening to it that much, but that's not to say this is a bad album It is, however, definitely an album that leaves a very positive message for the younger generation. it's just not for me.
