The album opens with the song 'Light A Fire' which could easily be mistaken for sounding a lot like Wonderwall by Oasis or even Writing To Reach You by Travis or even Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, four songs that sound very similar musically. The song has a distorted indie rock edge to it, I like it, but I can't get away from how much it sounds musically like an Oasis classic! The vocals and lyrics are brilliant and gel together with pure passion.
'All That I Am' keeps the guitar sound strumming along nicely, this song is a little bit cleaner in sound compared to the opening track. For me it falls into the same genre of music as bands like Bluetree with a great positive worship message.
We then move onto the song 'Always' which feels like a more modern sound. The song uses synths, bleeps and beeps very well. Another quality this song has is its intensity which drives this song forward nicely.
This album has some strong tracks, including 'Depths' which is a brilliant song that builds in all the correct places. The title track Christ Be Glorified is full of power and 'Face to Face' is a great modern dance track. All top top songs.
One of the interesting moments of the album is the band's version of 'Nothing But The Blood'. The melody of the lyrics is broken up to work with an 80s sounding synth that creates this intriguing, creative version of this well know hymn. I have to admit I wasn't sure at first, but I have to give 100% credit for the band not just producing another carbon copy of the song.
I do love the closing track 'Oh The Blood', the song keeps to the passion that the band have conveyed in the rest of the album. What I enjoyed most about this song is it seemed to go to a whole new level musically and melodically.
There are some big powerful moments and some tender intimate moments on the album. Sometimes the album doesn't tend to flow as well as it could have, as there seems to be a few different styles of music incorporated into the album. That can make it feel a little disjointed at times.
What I did get from this album is the fact that BridgeCity is a bunch of guys who are passionate about singing about what God is doing in their lives. What has come out is this collection of songs that is at times brilliant.
