I have never got into the music of Todd Agnew, in the same sense I had never got into the music of Jeremy Camp. That doesn't mean I dislike these singers, merely the previous albums of these artist have never made it into my all time classic album list and never got played more than a few times. What I have found this last year is I'm listening and enjoying artists who I would more than likely not have give a second look. (This could be down to the fact I have to review the albums).

Todd has been around the Christian music scene for many a year now, releasing a new album every year and a half to superb, positive reviews and with large accomplishment, but sadly this wasn't the same for his last album "Better Questions". In 2007 it was released with a few negative reviews, this was Todd's fourth label album. The wonderful thing is his fans stayed close and strong, which is what fans do for an artist they care for.
Todd Agnew's best-known song is a version of the hymn "Amazing Grace" called "Grace Like Rain" that was featured on his first album, Grace Like Rain which was released in June 2003. We are now in 2009 bearing towards the year of 2010 and Todd is still pushing his magnificent acoustic worship songs forward with the release of his most recent offering "Need". The album has already made an astonishing impact in the music world in America, receiving rave reviews from far and wide.
Joy Unspeakable kicks the album off with as a safe middle of the road, 3 minute pop song that doesn't really make an impact on me apart from the thought of "that was nice". Written On The Wall is lyrically about men of the bible being told God's plan/vision/mission and how Todd would like God to speak to him in his life. The mid section of this song is fantastic, and well worth a listen just for that. It's a far better track than Joy Unspeakable. Piano Ballad I Need No Other made me think Todd's vocals are very similar to Third Day's Mac Powell, which isn't a bad thing. I suppose overall the sound Todd has created for his album Need is in the same vein as Third Day, so if you're a fan of that sound, you might not go wrong with this.
Gloria is another stand out track on the album, with its acoustic start and big chorus which sums up this album, tracks with acoustic starts and then breaking into big powerful Choruses with lyrics regarding different aspects of how God is and will move in our lives. Last track Jesus, The Hope of Glory has a hymn feel to it, (it might be an old hymn and I'm being very naive) yet sadly the songs kicks in with a cheesy gospel chorus, not the best way to finish what was an above average album.
