I realised something in the opening seconds of this newest offering from Jars of Clay: they have managed to do something truly amazing with their music. You listen to this album and know instantly who it is - not because of the distinctive vocals of Dan Haseltine; they just have such a distinct sound. Yet, even with that, each new album manages to sound new and fresh while still remaining unquestioningly Jars.
