When LTTM last featured Bristol based Diego they were announcing themselves around their local area with debut EP 'Surrendered'. Since then their hard work has been rewarded with exposure in radio and gigs, not least their opportunity to support Mumford And Sons and The Stranglers as a prize for winning the Triumph Live Band Battle. Now back with a new two-track EP, 'Escape', Diego are ready to further showcase their musical abilities.

Now back with a new two-track EP, 'Escape', Diego are ready to further showcase their musical abilities.
The opening title track begins with an almost Christmassy, glockenspiel sounding keyboard jingle, before Kieran Jefferson's crooning indie style vocals kick in. Beautifully accompanied by strings mid way through, followed by an expertly performed electric guitar riff as the lyrics ring out, singing "Face the fear that you hold, we will never be afraid of our soul". Kieran's vocals grow stronger as the track progresses, reaching several high notes as the song oozes to a climax, before taking the gentle route back down to the soothing end. It all makes for a superb musical piece to open this EP.
Second track 'Just Know I'm Around' starts with a simple guitar, quietly backing the hushed opening vocals, then the rhythm picks up as the drums and guitars spring to life. Vocally it's a moody sounding song. "This means everything to me. I just wanted you to know. Thinking of the words you said. And if it don't work out, you know I'm around". Like the first track there is evidence of some seriously good guitar work, combined skillfully with strong beats and subtle keys during the instrumental interlude mid-way through.
At first glance this may be a short EP from yet another band battling to make it in the overcrowded playing field that is the independent music scene these days. But listen closely and you soon appreciate the level of excellence Diego achieve as they spin their musical tale, etched with emotion charged vocals and stunning instruments. Great work guys, now give us the full album to really show off your talents.
