Where do you start with a new band who are about to release a new album? I presume you might want to know a bit about the band themselves. So here goes, Anthem Lights can trace their roots back to 2007 when singer/songwriter Alan Powell joined forces with aspiring solo artist Chad Graham when they met living in the same town, after a time of playing together they met two guys called Caleb Grimm and Kyle Kupecky who seem to fit straight into a band setup and Anthem Lights as a band was born.

After months of writing and recording, the band signed with Reunion Records and are now ready to release their first self titled 10 track debut album, with the album being produced by Produced by Juan Otero and Seth Moseley, aka The Write Brothers (Newsboys, Me in Motion), and Rob Hawkins (Fireflight, Chasen). Big well know names, so you know this album is in safe hands.
Taking a look at the album cover and pictures of the band on their website, you would think that they look very much like a boy band, but don't let this look distract you (not that there is anything wrong with boy bands!). This band are a pop/rock band, taking their style and sound from the synth/pop genre that is popular with some Christian rock bands at the moment.
I know it sounds like a cliche, but this album really grew on me, listen after listen the album and the songs really started to grab my attention. I suppose if a song can jump out at you when there is so much good music around at the moment, you know you have found something special.
From the catchy opening track Can't Shut Up you know this album is going to be good. The catchy pop hits continue with I Wanna Know You Like That and Outta My Mind, but for every pop friendly rock song there are tender moments, tracks like Circles and Can't Get Over You, this band does both styles very well.
This album is very similar in style to what a lot of bands are producing, but what stands out more than anything on this album is how much these songs have good hooks that make them stick in your head long after you have had a listen. This album, I'm sure, will grow on you the more you listen to it. Anthem Lights are going to be a band that will have great success with this release and I'm sure plenty more will follow in the future.
