It only feels like yesterday Leeland were starting out. But this is a band that has been around for years in many different guises. The band was formed in 2004, although lead singer Leeland Mooring had been writing songs beforehand. Leeland is composed of Leeland Mooring (lead vocals, guitar), and Casey Moore (guitar, background vocals). The band's original line-up included Jeremiah Wood (guitar), who left the band in late 2006 and was replaced by guitarist Matt Campbell in late spring of 2007, Jack Mooring (piano), Mike Smith (drums) and Jake Holtz (bass).

In early 2011, only a few months before the release of their fourth studio album, bassist Jake Holtz left the band to pursue a career with the US Army. Leeland's fourth studio album, The Great Awakening, was released. Then In September 2015, Leeland announced via YouTube that they would be joining Bethel Music as part of the Bethel Music Collective, after Leeland Mooring and Casey Moore established an organic friendship with Bethel's founding member, Brian Johnson. Leeland's fifth full-length studio album, Invisible, was released on July 22, 2016.

Personally I have always enjoyed a Leeland album when I have had the opportunity to review them, but I have never really got into them. You know there are bands that you hear and enjoy and then there are bands that you enjoy but become a big fan of. For one reason or another I never really got into Leeland as a fan. And maybe with all the band member changes they never felt like a 'band' to me.

But here we have a great collection of their new songs done live. I was more impressed with what I heard than I was expecting. This is more of a worship album that can be picked up for worship teams for the local church. The musicianship is very good and easy on the ears. Melodically these are 'pick up and go' songs that just work, and lyrics that are simple but powerful. These are songs that are accessible to anybody.

With songs like 'Inhabit' that blasts into life with some really strong drums, 'Way Maker' which is a stunning song, and some lovely piano in 'Wait Upon The Lord' - as an album it does very nicely what it sets out to do: make an album that takes people closer to God.
