Multi-Award Winning singer/songwriter Matthew West releases his new studio project, Brand New, as his first album on Provident Label Group/Sony Music.

Many of the tracks on Brand New strike a balance between addressing the pain and reality of life while offering hope. They bring a message that West has been writing since the beginning of his career. West also strikes a balance between personal songs based on his faith experience and songs written in response to others’ stories.

“I almost feel like a new artist,” he says, “but with the experience of a veteran. I think that could be a recipe for being in a sweet spot in any field - to have the fire of the new and the experience. …I like to think that I’m getting closer and closer to the most authentic version of me as a communicator and me as a songwriter, but hopefully most of all, me as a person.”

And this album really does feel like Matthew has taken that step forward, for me the album feels like you are on a journey, and part of that might be Matthew's journey. Not only that but musically the album has a few twists and turns, there are those upbeat tracks that make you smile and then there are those intimate songs like 'Grace Upon Grace' and 'The God Who Stays' that are stunning and powerful and full of truths.

The album title track, 'Brand New', is as you might expect the big anthem of the album. The song is a big radio friendly anthem that is in your face from the start and is very much Christian radio friendly. Don't get me wrong, it’s a good track but for me there are better songs on here. This leads me to my favourite track 'What If' which is an upbeat instant classic for me. I also love the song 'Walking Miracles' which is a song about God's miracles that are around us everyday in the form of people.

As said the album does take you on a little adventure, a life adventure or at least in parts Matthew's adventure at the moment, its a campaign of highs and lows but what I got out of the album the most was a theme of that God is with us and making us new, everyday, no matter where we are in our faith and journey, God is always at work.
