As a one off song, 'Sing It From The Shackles' is a little bit more haunting than we kind of expect from the Rend family. It still has the passion and drive that you expect from Rend, but doesn’t necessarily have the foot thumping folk/Celtic drive from earlier albums, and from listening to the theme I can now see why.
The song itself feels like it has a little bit of an uplifting swagger. When you feel low, still being able or trying to praise God is the best thing but also the hardest thing, all at the same time. It's actually really important to sing these kind of songs. Life isn't all upbeat, clapping, party, it can be, but a lot of the time it's being on your knees and singing from those shackles where we find God closest.
