Let's get this out of the way straight away, this album is stunning. This album is a great peace of Hip Hop art, it's intense, it's powerful, it's full of quality and full of story telling. I don't really want to say too much more because that for me sums up this album. Of course if you are reading this, you might think, good I'm off to listen to this now or you might think, excuse me, I need to know more. So let me try and explain.
We have been a massive fan of the work of NF for a long time on LTTM, he is an artist that makes you stand up and listen, he doesn't have to do much, but when he starts you need to listen. One of the other qualities of NF is the fact he expresses in music great storytelling qualities. I know the track is called 'Story' but in this song you feel you are hearing a blockbuster movie, when you hear it, you are drawn into the song with it's story and what is being said.
That can also be said for so many song on this album. I love the message and the heart behind the track 'Just Like You', it's a song about it being ok to not be ok. The song is done with heart and warmth. 'Prideful' is a great track, 'Clouds' is another stunning intense track to kick start the album and there are so many songs that are top quality.
The album has a few pop moments, or more correctly, more melodic sides to the chorus especially, but what I found when hearing this album was wanting to get to know the album, wanting to really hear the songs. This is an album to really enjoy but also to think about and listen to. For me NF is one of the most important artists of a generation. His music is honest and real, a lot of artists say this, but NF takes all of him and puts it on the table and that takes guts, but he has always done that and he has 100% done it again with this stunning release in Clouds.
