Sometimes albums come to use from artists I have no idea about. The new album from singer Karyn Williams falls into that category, even though she has been around producing top quality songs for years now.
From the moment the album opens with the track 'Call' my first thought was, wow doesn't she sound similar to artist like Rebecca St James and Kari Jobe. But of course to pigeon hole an artist like that isn't fair and Karyn Williams is her own artist in her own right.

If I was describing Karyn's voice to someone who had never heard her before I would start with how gentle her voice sounds. There is a very clean soft tone to her voice which works perfectly in summer epic Every Good Thing. She sounds like a cleaner version of Jose Stone at times.
Rest In The Hope is your typical pop ballad track, not really my kind of song, but others will enjoy it I'm sure. I'm more a fan of the summer poppy tracks that Karyn does like Just May Be and Banner, with the latter being a little more jazzier, even a little bit Michael Bubble. We're all allowed guilty pleasures in music aren't we, and the track Banner is one of them for me.
This album from Karyn Williams is a great American pop record with lyrics that tell a story in all the songs. The poetic style of the songs might not be its best quality, but what you do get out of these songs are real feelings and emotions. Some songs are a little bit Disney sounding, like Waiting In The Rain, but I know a lot of people who will really enjoy it. If you like this genre of music then please check this out, the quality of the overall album is very solid indeed.
