Michael W Smith Gathers 50 Artists To Record 'Come Together Now' For Haiti
Christian music artists continue to show support for the relief effort following the earthquake in Haiti, with Michael W Smith being the next big name to spearhead a group of artists raising funds for charities working in Haiti. Following the Kirk Franklin led 'Are You Listening' single, where Gospel artists including Fred Hammond, Mary Mary and BeBe Winans recorded a song under the banner 'Artists United For Haiti', now contemporary artists have gathered together to record a song for Haiti.
On 27th January Michael W Smith was joined by some of the biggest talent in Christian music at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville to record the vocals to a song called 'Come Together Now', written by Smith, Cindy Morgan and David Mullen. The recording also featured a 250 strong children's choir.
Nearly 100 of the biggest names in Christian music participated in the song's recording, including Steven Curtis Chapman, TobyMac, Mark Hall of Casting Crowns, Point Of Grace, Michael Tait, Brandon Heath, Matthew West, Britt Nicole, Francesca Battistelli, Kevin Max, Meredith Andrews and Mike Weaver of Big Daddy Weave among others.
Both Ocean Way Studio and the artists are donating their time to the project. All proceeds from the song, which is expected to be released soon, will go to designated charity and relief work through organizations such as The American Red Cross and Samaritan's Purse.
