Jay Powell Releases New Single 'Out of Nothing'

Apr 29 2021

Jay Powell, an American gospel singer/songwriter, has released his single 'Out Of Nothing' (from the EP of the same name) to radio. The full EP will be released in early 2022 after another single 'Higher Power' is released to radio and digital outlets in early fall 2021.

Jay was born in the backwoods of Louisiana. His father was a gospel music singer, which inspired him to start singing at a very early age. He and his six brothers, along with his parents, traveled all over the United States preaching and singing.

He fell in love with country music after hearing George Strait. He and his brothers formed a band in 1998 called JJSTAR and performed at many nightclubs and various outings in Louisiana. He performed at the Talladega Racetrack for three consecutive years.

Jay recorded and released a tribute song to Dale Earnhardt, Sr., titled “Last Lap." In 2001 he made the move to Nashville, TN to pursue a country music career.

In 2003 he recorded an eight-song country music CD with Tim McGraw’s band, The Dancehall Doctors. He then recorded a five-song country gospel/contemporary Christian album recorded in June of 2018 at the Family Room Studio in Gallatin, TN.

After a successful run in Country Music, in 2019 Jay pursued a more contemporary Christian sound (CCM) and the result is the new five-song EP, “unreserved.”

Jay signed with The Management Agency, Inc. (TMA) in March 2021 to handle his marketing, manage his bookings and provide personal artist management. Jay, along with the Christian rock band All Together United are partnering together for the“All Things Are Possible” tour in the USA later this year.
