KDMusic Releasing Christian Protest Song 'Once'

Sep 30 2022

KDMusic, the moniker of Dave Whitcroft, a singer- songwriter and worship writer from the sunny side of the Mourne Mountains N.Ireland, is releasing release single 'ONCE' on 30 September 2022. It is a no holds barred Christian protest song, based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 25.

The musical style is punchy and direct to match the lyrics. Close harmonies bring to mind Crosby, Stills & Nash, and the gritty guitar based music has hints of Lynyrd Skynyrd & Fleetwood Mac.

'ONCE' is a powerful, uncompromising 'revoicing' of the words of Jesus from Matthew 25. Drawing on these words and related sayings of Jesus The song sings from the point of view of the Lord Himself to condemns religious nominalism, abuse of power, and external religious compliance without engaging our hearts, or submitting our wills to Him.

"It was only when I first came to faith that I realised believers were a minority in my home church, and it was controlled by people who were there to preserve a threatened identity or gain social respect". “ Those days have largely gone, but now as I see the steady stream of leadership scandals and cover ups in religious institutions of all brands it seems the right time to show this song the light of day". "As a Christian songwriter its my strong conviction that if we are to properly re-present the Lord we can't cherry pick His reassuring words and skirt around the times He condemned sin within His people". "I hope this song helps many of us look in the mirror and turn back to Jesus, whether it's listening in the car or hearing it as an illustration to a sermon".
