'This Little Light' Single Coming From LZ7 For Shine Your Light Initiative
LZ7, one of the school outreach bands from Manchester's The Message charity, is to release a single in September called 'This Little Light Of Mine'. The song has already become a YouTube sensation, notching up over 110,000 views since going up on the site a little over a year ago.
"The single itself is surely the best bit of pop to come out of the Church in the last decade, full of bounce and upward energy" said The Message Trust. "And with a new video filmed specially for the single release as well as national radio interest and all the usual underground support rising up, it’s bound to chart well when it gets unleashed in September."
The Message Trust hope to use the single as the soundtrack to an underground revolution to spearhead a new initiative called the Shine Your Light campaign which aims to unleash the full potential of the nation's young people. By encouraging them to pledge and then carry out a set of simple tasks, and then film themselves in action and upload their videos to a website. "The whole Shine Your Light initiative and This Little Light release feels like the culmination of a 10 year journey for us as we attempt to make goodness fashionable and God famous in 2010" said The Message's Andy Hawthorne. LZ7, fronted by ex-Tribe member Lindz West, has a sound described as a mix of the Beastie Boys and Dizzee Rascal. The vast majority of the band’s time is spent in Manchester’s high schools but Lindz and the band travel widely, performing around the world to a growing fan base. The band released their second album 'Gasoline' in 2008 and are currently writing songs for their new album, expected out in the autumn of 2010.
