Linda Boles Releases 'The Missionary'

Mar 12 2024

Linda Boles has released her new original song, THE MISSIONARY, available now on all streaming platforms. This song was inspired by the life of her first husband who died unexpectedly in 1982 at the age of 31. He was an insurance salesman who had the heart of a missionary. The verses tell the story of a man who loved the Lord and sought His leading in his life. Each morning, he would pray and ask God what He would have him do that day. We often think that missionaries are people that God has sent to far off lands to share the gospel. Often, God calls us to be missionaries right where we are.

Linda Boles is a lifelong musician who started performing in her family’s bluegrass band, The Darden Family, gaining recognition in the 1950’s and 1960’s. She later played folk songs in coffeehouses, joined her brother’s rock band, Black River Circus, and sang for military troops in Cuba.

After marrying the band’s bass player and having a daughter, tragedy struck in 1982 when her husband died unexpectedly. God inspired Linda to write songs, and she began performing, recording albums and appearing on radio and TV, including the 700 Club.

Life happened and things changed and Linda forgot about the songs that God had inspired her to write. She went to college and got her degrees, began her music teaching career and retired in 2017 after teaching for 42 years.

In February 2023, the Lord reminded Linda of the songs He had given her so long ago. He asked her to share and that started the social media journey that led to her producing her songs for a global platform,

She has joined with Homegrown Worship and Andy Baker in the UK to produce her songs and is excited to have the opportunity to follow God’s leading in her life to share the music He has given to her.
