Martin Smith Endorses Micah Challenge & Leads New Worship Event

Sep 17 2010

Former Delirious? front man Martin Smith has thrown his support behind the 'Micah Challenge' event. On 10.10.10, 10th October 2010, churches all across the world will unite to worship, pray and act against global injustice and poverty. Martin has recorded a special message endorsing Micah Challenge and performing an acoustic version of the CompassionArt song 'You Have Shown Us'

"On October 10th this year... we can join with 100 million people across the planet, and we can pray and we can promise to act", says Martin. "It's a way of empowering church to speak out for what's on God's heart. As Micah 6 says, 'To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God...' and I think that's true worship."

Around the world Micah Challenge seeks to ignite and fuel a global movement of Christians from the South and the North - Christians who are united in seeking dramatic reductions in poverty, and in speaking out against its injustices with a single, formidable voice. To support the Micah Challenge, Kingsway have released a special compilation album titled 'You Have Shown Us' featuring songs from Martin Smith, Tim Hughes and Matt Redman.

Martin will also be taking part in a new series of worship events along the south coast of England. 'Resound' is the name of a new evening of expectant worship led by Martin and band. The first event will take place at Central Hall, Southampton on 19th September, followed by Revelation Centre, Chichester on 28th November and Littlehampton Academy on 23rd January, with further dates to follow.
