Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.
As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened. While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?" When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help he begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife. But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.
If there is one DVD you buy this year, if there is one film you watch this year, then make it this one! Fireproof is the third film from Sherwood Church; their previous films are the blockbuster Facing the Giants and Flywheel. This film is about marriage, love, true love, commitment, Christ's love, but it is far from a 'girly' movie, this is a film for men and women alike, it has action, it has romance, it has comedy, this film will have all your emotions going, you will laugh, you will cry, you will be on the edge of you seat, it is intense, thrilling and awesome.
This is a film about marriage, its about the struggle of marriage, the problems faced in marriage, and I would recommend this film to anyone who is married, if you are having problems or not, it will get you thinking about 'fireproofing your marriage'. And even if you are not married, I am not married, but I found this to be one awesome film, it makes you think about your relationships, it makes you think about marriage and how to be when you are married and just to keep on going in Christ's love. It also gets you thinking about your relationship with God.
This is a powerful film, I would go as far as saying it is the film of the year. I recommend this film to husbands and wives of all ages, whether you have been together for less then a year or if you have been together for 80 years or more. I also recommend this to people who are about to get married, to those who are thinking about marriage and to those who are still single, this will have you thinking, laughing, crying but it is worth it.
