Matt Hammitt, better known to you and I as lead singer of Sanctus Real, will release a special solo album in September titled 'Every Falling Tear'. The album will feature songs he wrote last year as his newborn son, Bowen, went through a season of surgeries for a rare heart condition.

Matthew and Sarah Hammitt's son, Bowen Matthew Hammitt, was born in September 2010 with a serious and rare congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), in which the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped. Just a few days after his birth, Bowen, whose name means 'small, victorious one', underwent his first open heart surgery. The surgery went well, but the next night he suffered cardiac arrest and Matt and Sarah feared they would lose him. After an hour of CPR on his tiny chest, still open from the surgery, Bowen was revived and placed on life support. 

Slowly over the next few weeks, Bowen became stronger and no longer needed to be on life support or even oxygen. However, he had other complications including a stroke and being diagnosed with hyperinsulinism, and will need additional surgery. What came out of this hard time for Matt were songs he wanted to sing about the hard times the family experienced. But before the album gets released to us in September, Matt has decided to release a single called All Of Me  . A portion of the proceeds from the single, as well as from the album, will be donated to the Hammitt's new nonprofit, the Whole Hearts Foundation which aims to bring hope to families and individuals who suffer from congenital heart defects. Amazing stuff.

 The song softly starts with an Orchestral beginning, violins and other string instruments setting an atmospheric start. Immediately the song is overlaid with a melodic classical piano, this helping Matt's rich, smooth, soft and heartfelt vocals sing this song. When you know the meaning behind this song, the chorus becomes so much more poignant. Matt sings  "You're gonna have all of me, you're gonna have all of me, you're worth every falling tear, you're worth facing any fear".   As the song very gently builds up, adding musical layers as it goes along, the second chorus goes up a notch with drums in the background pushing the song forward and the violins and orchestral instruments taking on a more powerful role within the song.

  A truly stunning piece of work by Matt Hammitt, this song 'All Of Me' is a masterpiece of work by the Sanctus Real frontman. I can't wait for the whole album to be released in a few months, but until then, please download this track.
