Oct 06 2011

Christian rapper Triple O has won the 2011 MOBO Award for Best Gospel Act. The winners were announced last night, 5th October, at the Awards Show held in the SECC Glasgow. The annual UK Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards celebrate urban music across many different genres.

The big winner of the night was Jessie J who swept the board, picking up four of the five awards she had been nominated for. Other winners last night included Adele, Rihanna, Tinie Tempah and Boyz II Men who were given the Outstanding Contribution to Music award.

Triple O released his new album 'Flatline' in July and his 'The Overnight Garden' mixtape earlier in the year. Last year's winning artist in the Best Gospel Act, London based rapper Guvna B, tweeted soon after the awards show: "Another massive well done to TripleOmusic Couldn't have happened to a nicer dude!". Triple O tweeted his own reaction to the news, saying "Much love for the well wishes and a massive God bless to all the other nominees - Nothing but love for you all. Thank you everyone!"
