To my knowledge I don't think there has been a worship album recorded with permission in Beijing, China. The album is full of tracks written by Mark and these lead us into a sense of what God is doing around the world. The recording of the album as a whole is of top quality, and isn't over produced. "The Door" captures what God was doing at that moment, at that time, in that place. Another fantastic part to the album is that they have used local musicians to add their style and sound of China on some of the tracks. It's great to hear different styles of music being used to lead people closer to God and to worship the King of Kings.
The other exciting part to the album is the spoken word worship, there are three tracks on the album which take the listener a step forward. Using poetry as a form of worship is an exciting and creative thing to do, add that with some music in the background, and you sense a new creative form of worship. The words are read by Gerard Kelly and fit beautifully next to the songs.
There are some amazing softer quiet moments of this album that lead you to God. This ground breaking album is not just a good album, it's an exciting moment of what God is doing in what was, and at times still is, a very non-Christian country.
