David Crowder Band - All This For A King: The Essential Collection
What a career David Crowder Band have had. Now that the dust has settled and the band members have gone on to do different things, it was time to release a greatest hits album.
David Crowder Band delivered their final album 'Give Us Rest' in January 2012, reaching number 2 on the overall Billboard Top 200 album chart. It marked the end of an era for the band that brought many new songs to the church, with 9 songs currently on CCLI's Top 500 Chart.

This album is full of amazing songs, and I have to admit I forgot how many great songs David Crowder Band wrote that were truly out of this world.
The album opens with the amazing O Praise Him which I just get lost in worship with every time. For me this song sums up the band, the sound and style is what David Crowder Band is all about. What I love about greatest hits albums like this, is the fact that everyone will have a favorite, and this is mine. Of course fans of the band will have their own favorite songs, be it from an older album or even one of their last before they finished. Each song will have a memory and moment for the Crowder fans that comes back the moment you hear it.
Here Is Our King still sounds as funky and as fresh as it ever did. The band's version of How He Loves sounds as sublime as it did the first time I heard David Crowder's vocals sing the line, "And Ohh how He loves us, Ohh Ohh". It's the way he says those "Oohhs" that does it for me.
Another classic for me is the brilliant Everything Glorious. This song must have been the first time I heard a Christian band be so creative with synths, electronic drums and bleeps. But take away all of that and you see it's just another great tune.
I could talk about each track and how great they are, but I won't. What I will say is that this is a brilliant greatest hits album, with every song being as strong as the next. Fans may already have these songs from the original albums, but if you want check out what the band members are doing now with their new projects, then the final few tracks are a great taster.
Continuing as a solo singer, known simply as 'Crowder', DC's new track 'This I Know' is premiered on this album. As is new band The Digital Age, made of up some remaining band members, with their remix of 'No One Like You'. If these 'new' artists' music is as good as when they were together as a band, the future will be very bright.
