"The soundtrack of a hopeful youth shimmers inside the unassuming three piece that is My Epic". Is the way the band sum themselves up on their website.
This band from America have released their latest offering titled Behold
.
Opening track Arise has a haunting musical glow washing over each quietly and perfectly placed note, setting up the tone of the album perfectly.
The track Hail is a cross between Muse and a very angry Radiohead. "Sing no more, sing no more" is the cry. It's heavier than some of the other songs on the album and the guitars are left to express themselves....

Tracks like Curse and Confession are traditional sounding indie songs that can be seen as a bit dark and sad. But these songs have a real beauty to them, Confession has a real down beat sparkle to it. The whole album is full of heart wrenching songs that are full of raw musical emotion.
I really like the edgy, mysterious sounds of tracks like Lament and Arrive, mixing together some of the best indie music around at the moment to create a very strong and powerful album.
I love hearing albums where you know the artist makes sure every note and sound is there for a reason. This is one of those albums. This indie, arty, crazy, inspiring and imaginative album is one that you have to listen over and over to really appreciate the finer details. It's an album well worth digging deeper into - it isn't elevator background music, this is real music.
