I'm a bit of a fan of Mandisa's vocals and when I heard her last album What If We Were Real I was blown away. I then went on to tell anybody who would listen how amazing a vocalist Mandisa was.
Now she is back with a new album titled 'Get Up : The Remixes', which in simple terms is a collection of Mandisa's biggest hits remixed.

Now it has been said many times on LTTM, I have a love/hate relationship with remixes, sometimes a remix can destroy a perfectly good song, or it can give it a whole new lease of life. So I approached this album with a little bit of fear and excitement.
As you would have guessed, these songs have been given a dance inspired mix, but in this modern, synth, drum/dance beat world we live in, it's perfect. All the songs work perfectly together as a complete remix album.
From the moment 'Overcomer' thumps into life, a feeling of relief washed over me. These are exciting dance songs with great melodies and lyrics, and of course amazing vocals. I tried to take myself away from the original songs as much as I could and approach them as a new collection of songs. As songs like Joy Unspeakable and Good Morning are so different to the original it's not a bad place to start
Mandisa's version of Shackles is a bit more dance floor than I was expecting, but I love it. The high energy, high tempo sounds are perfect for this upbeat shackle-throwing rousing anthem.
I really enjoyed these songs as new original tracks. If this is your first Mandisa album you will be drawn in straight away with her strong vocals, great dance beats and energetic sounds. I would encourage you if this is the first time of hearing about Mandisa to get this album, but also to go back and pick up her last album What If We Were Real and see the two different versions of these songs, both good, just very different.
As I eluded to at the start of the review, I'm not always the biggest fan of remix albums, but this collection gets a massive thumbs up from me. Put this album on loud and start dancing, that's what this album wants you to do, dance, sing and smile.
