Teen-Singer Skylar Kaylyn Releases 'In My Head'

Feb 11 2015

18-year old Skylar Kaylyn weaves her musical thoughts with the talent of Nashville producers and musicians on the release of her newest album, 'In My Head'.

Producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records in Nashville, TN, brought in such talent as Dave Cleveland on guitars, Steve Brewster on drums, Gary Lunn and Danny Lannerghty on bass, and Jason Webb and Blair Matthews on keyboards. Copeland also steered the arrangements in the studio with engineer Steve Dady at Sunset Blvd. Studios in Brentwood, TN.

The icing on the cake was bringing in engineer/producer/musician extraordinaire Jonathan Crone to bring it all together with more arrangements, vocal production, and the final mix. Add to all of this the amazing visuals of photographer Erick Anderson through the lens of his camera and design work, and In My Head has turned into a modern masterpiece. The completion of this album reflects two years of spiritual and musical growth for Skylar Kaylyn, as well as her deep love for the Lord.

In the songs of In My Head, Skylar Kaylyn has written about a variety of life situations that reflect her relationships with God, family, and friends, and that she hopes speaks to a wide-range of people. In thoughts that transcend the many stages of life, “You Belong” speaks to the age-old battle of feeling hopeless and worthless, and reminds us of where we fit in... right where we belong.

The title track, “In My Head,” features the musical musings of a teenage girl holding out for the love of her life she knows the Lord has waiting for her. She continues to show her romantic and fun-loving spirit in “Once Upon A Time” and “Happy Mother’s Day,” while baring her soul in “This Too Shall Pass,” “Build a Wall” and “I’m Alright.”

Her strong and certain faith that keeps her anchored in life’s ups and downs is clearly revealed in “All That Really Matters,” “Faith on Snowy Days” and “Sanctuary.” And, as a tribute to dear missionary friends who lost a loved one recently, “Tears in a Bottle” is an achingly honest cry to the Lord reminiscent of King David’s prayers in the book of Psalms. Skylar Kaylyn wants people to know that Jesus Christ is her all-in-all, and prays that through her music people will come to know Him and lean into Him through the joys and sorrows and all the many happenings of our journey on this earth.
