Once you hear this album, you will see why Jonathan is compared to people like Davis Guetta, that's the obvious musical comparison, yet Jonathan has more about him than that. He produces catchy dance tracks that you will enjoy. The perfect example is the title track 'Science and Fiction' and the ever so brilliant 'Compass', but this guy really cares about his songs and the production of them, again you can tell and hear this in the epic 'Hat Trick'.
One song that stood out was 'Cry Wolf', which reminded me of the theme tune to the 80s Classic American TV series 'AirWolf'. Maybe I'm just hearing things or maybe this is intentional due to the similar names, but it is an interesting take on that style of 80's keyboard music. Whatever the influence or the sample, this is a really brilliant song.
Another one of my favorite tracks on this album is the song 'MockingBird' which features the brilliant vocals of Kevin Max. This song is hard to put into words, but it just works as a great creative piece of music. The many different vocalists singing at the same time on the song make a stunning wall of sound that is a real treat to the ear.
As I gather my thoughts about this album, my initial reaction was that it sounded more Pop than I was expecting, but on reflection, maybe the catchy melodies made me think it was a poppy album, more than big dance anthems. No matter what I think, these songs get stuck in your head and that's what good music does. Jonathan Thulin is a master at what he does and to hear his latest songs as a collection like this is a real treat.
