I have to admit I'm not overly familiar with JJ Weeks Band. So I have come to this review from a point of view of not knowing too much about them as a band or their music. This of course is a great thing as I have no preconceived idea of what they should sound like.

It could be argued that JJ Weeks Band sound similar to a lot of America Christian bands out at the moment. Don't let that put you off as some of the tracks on this album are top quality. Not only do they sound great, their track have an upbeat groovy side to them that is infectious from the first listen. The track Jealous is one of said songs as is opening track In The Name Of. Two great songs that capture what the band are trying to do.
From my first listen I would say that JJ Weeks Band sound like a mix between Casting Crowns and Newsboys with a hint of modern Michael W Smith. Forgive me if this is wrong, and I'm sure fans of the band will disagree, but that's what I got when I had a good listen.
If I had to sum up how I felt about this album in one sentence, then It would be: I like what I hear. There are plenty of great songs on this very solid album. Rooftops has a great sound and feel. If I'm being honest, this album would have taken on a whole new lease of life if there were more songs like Rooftops on it!
Other strong moments on the album include 'Count Them All', which is a beautiful piano led ballad that pulls at the heart strings of the listener, and 'Ahead of Me' which is another beautiful tune with some lovely creative tones.
As this is the first album I have had the opportunity to listen to of JJ Weeks Band, I have to say overall I'm impressed. The band have a solid album here that I'm sure will make some great waves in the Christian Music world. I'm also sure some of these songs will work perfectly on Christian Radio in America. Please take time to check these songs out as you will not be disappointed when you blast them out.
