Marcus Akins Releasing Full-Length Album 'Like a Child'
Marcus Akins, a singer, songwriter, worship leader and musician from Washington, D.C., is releasing his new full length album 'Like A Child' on 25th May following a successful Indiegogo campaign.
"Three years ago I released my debut EP 'The Pursuit of Hope'", explains Marcus. "God allowed that album to open a lot of doors for me and to touch people worldwide. I have so many testimonies of how those songs gave unwavering hope to the listeners. My prayer is that God will use this new album to go even further and touch even more hearts. My heart's desire is that this record of 11 songs will release hope, joy and faith that will shift atmospheres and change lives."
Marcus began playing the piano at age 5, and started leading worship at age 15. After years of failing to implement his piano skills, he picked it back up at age 17 when he began honing his songwriting skills as he grew more and more passionate about the things of God. Almost 10 years later, his relentless affection for God's presence permeates through every note, lyric and song.
Marcus has traveled extensively up and down the east coast over the last several years spreading the message of God's love to all who hear him. He believes that the love of God is the only thing that can turn the heart of a person, and that the revelation of that love will spark revival all over the world. One of his favorite sayings is "as long as we have Jesus, we have hope". With a desire to see hope awakened and restored in the hearts of men everywhere, he uniquely expresses melodies from heaven, motivating deeper encounters with the beauty of God.
Marcus serves as the director of worship & music at Elevate Church in Alexandria, VA, as well as music director and worship leader at The ROAR (Regional Outpouring Awakening Reformation), an encounter service that cultivates wholesome relationships through sound bible teaching and intimacy in worship. He has also been a member of Awaken Wells, a stirring group of passionate worshippers, since 2012.
Marcus longs to create timeless music that will impact generations to trust God and love Him with worship.
