My first thought on hearing the opening of this album was shock; Gwen Stacy isn't a girl then! It's probably for reasons like this that I should research artists before I start listen to the album for review, but I don't, so I assumed that this was another female singer on the block. I read the track list before the album started and saw that the first track was named First Words, and wondered whether it could compete with the beauty of Stephanie Smith's track of the same name from her Not Afraid album. The answer? No.

Considering Gwen Stacy are described as a Christian Hardcore Punk band I doubt that is too much of a criticism to them. The album for the most part is very reminiscent of Linkin Park's early material with its combination of shouting verses and smoother sung choruses. When the vocals are present they are cute sing along harmonies and work well against the harsh verses.
I'm afraid after that, things start going a bit downhill. For me it was difficult to distinguish between most of the tracks with most of the album blending together but not as cleverly as done on David Crowder* Bands last album. There are moments when you know that you have gone between tracks, but they are few and far between. Addictionary caught my attention but because it was so similar to Bound To Violence by Hatebreed.
This isn't my kind of music, which is probably most of the problem. This is one of those genres which are very hit and miss for me and unfortunately the majority of this album was a miss for me.
