British Duo League Of Lights Release Single Ahead of 'In The In Between' Album

Sep 17 2019

British electronic rock/synth pop duo League of Lights, Richard West (Threshold) and singer Farrah West, have just released 'Kings and Queens', the lead single from their new album 'In The In Between', which will be released on 27th September.

"'Kings and Queens' is a song about the idea that life is just a test for what is to come afterwards", explains Farrah. "It starts with piano and vocals and builds to a crescendo, it's not a standard shape for a song in terms of verse / chorus / bridge but we chose it because it really reflects the slightly quirky feel of our album."

"Our new album 'In the in Between' came about and was titled to reflect what has been happening in our lives over the last few years. We’ve been making music together for a long time but really wanted to make a complete body of work. Sometimes there is just this need to create and we wanted to make something beautiful that reflected us and where we were at that moment. Life felt like it was getting away from us, we were so busy with other projects, caring for a poorly family and paying the bills.

So 'In the in Between' was made in moments in between hospital visits and other music and non-music projects… sometimes when the rest of the world had gone quiet at 3am. Each song represents where we were in that moment in time along the journey."

Farrah and Richard met on the outskirts of London, crossing paths for the first time in the mid 1990’s. Many years later they assembled a stellar cast of luminaries comprising Dutch guitarist Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation), American drummer Mark Zonder (Fates Warning) and fellow Brit Jerry Meehan (Robbie Williams) to guest on their debut album in 2011. Simply entitled League of Lights, the album fused elements of pop, rock and metal into their own unique blend.

Now in 2019 Farrah and Richard are back with a new album 'In the in Between' that showcases Farrah’s sublime and enchanting vocals across 14 new original songs with a sound that makes room for electronic rock, synth pop, piano, cinematic soundscapes and everything in between.

"It's been a long journey to get here," says Farrah. "From the day we recorded our first song together we’ve been working towards creating something that combines the heart of who we are. We’re really proud to have reached this point on our journey."
