Double GRAMMY 2020 Awards For Kirk Franklin & for KING & COUNTRY

Jan 27 2020

The winners of the 62nd GRAMMY Awards were announced on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the ceremony in Los Angeles, CA hosted by Alicia Keys. In the Christian music categories there were double award wins for Kirk Franklin and for KING & COUNTRY.

For King & Country won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for 'God Only Knows' with Dolly Parton, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for 'Burn The Ships'. Kirk Franklin won Best Gospel Performance/Song for 'Love Theory' and Best Gospel Album for 'Long Live Love'. Gloria Gaynor won Best Roots Gospel Album for 'Testimony'.

“burn the ships, in many ways, is the most meaningful album of our career,” says Joel Smallbone, one half of for KING & COUNTRY. “We’ve had the distinct privilege to share this music by touring around the world over the past year, and seeing the songs resonate with so many people has been an extraordinary experience. One of the great honors in our career was when Dolly Parton told us that ‘God Only Knows’ was one of the best songs she’d ever heard. Our proverbial jaws hit the floor and have stayed there, and we cannot thank Dolly enough for her time, generosity, and that wonderfully powerful voice. She’s truly a light. With all that said, this nod by our peers is an incredible year-end high.”
