Singer-songwriter Bella McKendree releases her new album 'Songbird' on 7th August. The first single 'Everybody Needs' is out now, and second single 'Abba' is out on Friday 31st July. "Abba is my heart cry to God", Bella explains. "Revealing my weary state and asking Him to give me the living water that Jesus said would be available to us all. It's a song to spiritually refresh us."
McKendree is an artist full of truth and compassion. Standing out from the crowd, she is not afraid to talk about topics that are often swept under the carpet, note ‘Child Soldier’. She is marked for her stage presence with “a voice that commands to be heard… performed to perfection” (Live Unsigned). This is an artist weaving a journey of her own, going wherever the music leads with an aim to leave people feeling freer, happier and inspiring us to embrace life.
She was classically trained and grew up listening to the blues, gospel music and pop. Her teens were impacted by 90’s singer-songwriters’ Jeff Buckley and Tori Amos. South American music is beginning to shape her sound since collaborating with Argentina percussionist Martin Rizzola. Marked by Earmilk as “one that you need to watch out for” Bella has "a haunting voice that captures many.”
Her musical journey began at the age of 11 wondering around the orchard behind her house creating songs acapella. She soon found her love for the piano and now the two hold a wonderful synchronicity that is captivating.
She has been featured on BBC Introducing, in Music Week and named Clash Track of the Day.
