Some of you might be familiar with the Bethel Church as they are the home to the Jesus Culture music group, which released an amazing album back in November called Come Away. As well as thirteen great new worship songs, this CD gives you a bonus DVD which is packed with interviews about the topic of worship with Bill Johnson, Kris Vallotton, Brian & Jenn Johnson and Jeremy Riddle. Each person gives a personal story of how worship has had an impact on them and their personal lives.
Where to start? Over the last few months there have been some truly stunning live worship albums released, each stirring people in worship with a selection of songs from a particular festival or event that the album was recorded at. Hearing songs sung live in times of worship that have been captured on a CD is one of the best ways to listen to new worship songs.
This album is up there with the best of the worship albums released recently, with songs at a high velocity, big guitars and big vocals making for high energy times of worship. Just listen to tracks Furious and You Are Good to really grasp the urgency in worshiping the amazing God we are all here to worship.
One of the other standout tracks is the simple, yet potent title track Be Lifted High, starting off with simple yet strong lyrics of "Be Lifted High, Be Lifted High, For Your Glory, Be Lifted High", the song slowly builds into an outpouring of praise, with great worship sounds ringing out of the speaker.
Another great track is God I Look To You. Let this song wash over you, let the truthful lyrics of "Hallelujah, Our God Reigns" impact you, these lyrics are an amazing cry out of who God is. The song builds into a massive powerful anthemic melody of praise to God.
A version of Jesus Culture's One Thing Remains makes an appearance on this album, it was on of my favorite on the 'Come Away' album, and this version is as good as the original. If there is one Jesus Culture song I would recommend to people, then this is the one.
'
Be Lifted High' is a great live worship album, in what is a already busy market for live albums at the moment. With great songs that will get you jumping in praise like Deep Cries Out and Forever And A Day, to devoted moments of honest worship in songs like I Will Exalt and One Thirst. These are amazing worship songs that make you want to close your eyes, lift your hands up in the air and sing out with heartfelt passion for God. I love this album because it has drawn me closer to God with a strong mix of melodic worship songs that have really captured me to be able to worship God.
