If you're anything like me, you go looking around for fresh Christian music and can't find any for ages, then a band pops out of nowhere. I had the honour of going to Spring Harvest and being told to check out this new band, who were doing a gig at one of the after hours venues. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised, which made me want to buy the album to see if this duo could produce an album as good as their live performance.

I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised, which made me want to buy the album to see if this duo could produce an album as good as their live performance.

According to their bio Tom + Olly have been wowing audiences, with their unique blend of hip-hop, acoustic and pop, for well over a year now. Tom Logan and Olly Purchase, who hail from Brighton, have a catchy repertoire of songs that you will find hard to forget! In 2008 they played the "Ultimate" event at Alton Towers which, to be fair, is a big gig.

So then, the album, what did I expect from a duo on their debut album after seeing a raw fun and exciting live gig? Well, I expected more of the same if I'm honest; and that's what I got. Let's start with the only negative to the self-titled album "Tom + Olly", 14 tracks long is too long. As much as we all love as many tracks as possible, I personally would have taken it down to 12, however, choosing which tracks to take off would be a hard decision.

The album is fresh and full of party atmosphere making it a very original album. I can't, at this moment, think of someone else who is doing this in the Christian music world. I suppose, maybe unfairly, that the closest vocally you're going to get to the band is early Streets stuff, but Tom + Olly have more to them than that.

This duo is offering, for now, a fresh, new sound for today, so go and buy the album. Will the band need to change their style and sound in years to come in order to keep up with the trends? Yes. Is the band ready to take the Christian Music scene by storm with this album? The answer is again, yes.
