Madison Ryann Ward Releases Highly Anticipated New Single 'Emotions'
Soulful, U.S singer-songwriter Madison Ryann Ward teams up with Nick Green on new single 'Emotions', out 21st May.
Beautifully haunting, ‘Emotions’ is a raw and heartfelt love song that sees the duo showcase smooth, gritty vocals against a backdrop of electronic, soulful vibes. Written with and produced by Nicky Davey (of which Nick Green is one half) who have been described as one of L.A’s best kept secrets, the song marks Madison’s first release for a while following her decision to become an independent artist.
“Emotions was created at a time where so much was changing for me, I felt very swept up in it all. I remember driving out to Venice Beach and feeling pretty lost - this song ended up becoming an ode to the aftermath of saying goodbye to certain things, and people, while trying to carry on wholeheartedly and still having questions and doubts. There was a push and pull that was so big, it was hard to get away from. Nicky and I wrote and recorded the full demo in only one night, and I remember it just came together so naturally and quickly.” Says Madison.
Having started off set to be a professional volleyball player, Ward’s career plans took a dramatic turn when a video of her singing in the college cafeteria went viral. She was then taken under the wing of legendary producer Rick Rubin (Def Jam) and ended up signing with American Recordings/Republic Records and moving to L.A. Despite touring with both Zac and Lukas Nelson, recording vocals for U2’s Bono’s ‘Women of the World’ campaign, and performing her first single ‘Mirror’ on the Jay-Z episode of David Letterman’s ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’, Ward began to realise things were not headed where she wanted to be. In 2020 she made the brave decision to leave her deal, regroup and become an independent artist.
‘Emotions’ has a significant message and mood of what Madison has come through to where she is at right now, as a woman and as an artist: Confident of who she is, what she wants to say and how she wants to say it. There is no stopping Madison now and the future is looking brighter and brighter.
